Past Hurricanes that shut down Walt Disney World, will Hurricane Dorian be added to the list ?

With the magnitude of Hurricane Dorian, which upgraded to a Cat 4 Hurricane, will Walt Disney World close ?

They have closed many times from Hurricanes in the past , and sustained damage. From massive flooding to uprooted trees . Take look at those hurricanes that have shut down the Mouse-House “below” !

Disney of course is launching the new “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” this Labor Day Weekend , and a Hurricane can put a massive damper on their newest attraction !

“However“, they do take safety for their guests and workers seriously. And with the continuous updates on Hurricane Dorian, the chances are looking more like a “yes” that the “Mouse-House” will have to close for a day or so until the hurricane gets out of the area !

•Hurricane Elena – (A Cat 3 Hurricane)

Magic Kingdom and Epcot closed early on Aug. 31, 1985 due to concerns about Hurricane Elena, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Hurricane Dorian – Latest updates for Tourists and Residents.

As of Thursday 8-29-2019, Hurricane Dorian was upgraded to hit land at a Cat 4 Hurricane.

All forecasters are stating , this will be the biggest hurricane in three decades. And very dangerous.

A “State of Emergency” has been announced by Florida’s Governor for the entire state of Florida .

Mary Poppins attraction coming to the UK Pavilion in Epcot !

Epcot is opening Disney World’s very first Mary Poppins attraction, and it’s going to be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Dick Van Dyke himself took the stage at Disney’s D23 Expo fan convention over the weekend to reveal the news, which came as an utter surprise to theme park fans.

Epcot will also expand upon the beloved film’s charming setting as Epcot’s United Kingdom pavilion opens its own version of Cherry Tree Lane, allowing guests to walk its iconic cobblestone street like Jane and Michael Banks.

No details were provided as to what the first Mary Poppins attraction will entail and whether it will be a show or a ride , but we can only assume it will be practically perfect in every way.

Epcot is undergoing a massive transformation that will see a retheming of the entire park beyond World Showcase, and the addition of Mary Poppins marks the move toward adding a cinematic tie-in to each of the 11 featured countries.

Similar to how Epcot’s Norway pavilion embraced “Frozen” theming with experiences including a shop, princess-meet-and-greet, and Frozen Ever After ride, the United Kingdom pavilion, which currently hosts a Mary Poppins meet-and-greet, is likely to retain its historical nods while embracing storylines and characters from the films.

The France pavilion will honor “Beauty and the Beast” in a new sing-along show debuting in January, as well as “Ratatouille” with a ride opening summer 2020.

Meanwhile, a live puppet show, interactive exhibit, and marketplace stalls honor Pixar’s “Coco” in Mexico, showing how Epcot is incorporating box office hits more and more within its attractions.

A “Moana” warrior princess and “Guardians of the Galaxy” superhero squad will be part of the park’s future as well, but the addition of Mary Poppins is nothing short of historic.

This newly announced attraction will be the very first permanent ode to the Julie Andrews film which debuted in 1964 and saw a resurgence with last year’s Emily Blunt-helmed “Mary Poppins Returns.”

A stunning new poster featuring the whimsical nanny floating above Cherry Tree Lane and the London skyline also debuted at Disney’s D23 Expo fan convention over the weekend.

Disney World Skyliner Ride set to open September 29th 2019!

The Disney Skyliner is set to officially open on September 29th 2019 ! And seeing testing of the ride/gondolas, is almost daily at this point .

This means we are just about 2 months away from taking a flight in these gondolas around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Anticipation of a soft opening from several Skyliner Stations is kinda expected later this month .

Blue, yellow, and red signage is on the entrance to the bridge from the Pop Century side of the Station.

So you know what that means, it’s getting closer to finally ride & experience traveling around on Disney’s newest transportation service and ride !

Something that still has guests scratching their heads . Will be this interesting “Passive Ventilation Technology” and how it will hold up to no air conditioning in the Gondolas !

Disney icons such as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Chip & Dale will be featured on the gondolas, along with some others .

Universal Orlando Announces New Theme Park – “Epic Universe”

Universal’s Epic Universe will offer an entirely new level of experiences that will forever redefine theme park entertainment.

Guests will venture beyond their wildest imagination, traveling into beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the destination.

The new location will feature a theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more. Ultimately, this expansion will create more space and freedom to let loose and create lasting memories with the people you love.

Epic Universe will be located near the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

The new park will also feature its own hotels and shops. This new area is approximately a 12 minute drive from the current Universal parks.

No additional lands or attractions in the new park have yet to be revealed. Opening date TBD. This new park will bring 14,000+ jobs to Orlando.

According to Brian Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast Cooperation, “Our new park represents the single-largest investment Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme park business and in Florida overall, It reflects the tremendous excitement we have for the future of our theme park business and for our entire company’s future in Florida.”

Russi Taylor, the voice of Minnie Mouse, has died at 75

Russi Taylor, the voice behind Disney’s iconic Minnie Mouse for over 30 years, has died, The Walt Disney Company said in a statement on Saturday. She was 75.

“Minnie Mouse lost her voice with the passing of Russi Taylor,” said Diseny CEO and chair Bob Iger.

“Russi will be sorely missed and our hearts go out to her family and friends, along with our deepest condolences.”

Her cause of death was not released.

Taylor’s late husband, Wayne Allwine, was the voice behind Mickey Mouse starting in 1977 until his death in 2009.

According to Disney, Taylor said she wanted “whoever comes after us to be aware of the history and the tradition and to love the characters as much as we do.
